A couple of months back I found myself at the crossroads of a crisis. My son had just been hit with an Improvised Explosive Device in Afghanistan and my twenty-two year old daughter had just lost one of her closest friends to cancer. It was in this context I experienced a spiritual rebirth. At the time I was writing a book, Breaking the Discipleship Code. I wanted to help others break the code. The code broke me. For me this code breaking journey meant losing my religion and rediscovering the simplicity and centrality of Jesus and his ways. It’s been an amazing journey that lead to the writing of Detox for the Overly Religious which was release on January 1, 2010. The message I’ve included was part of a series on this same subject. I hope it communicates to you the heart and passion behind what God desires to do in all of our lives.
